About Liverpool
Announced as a European capital of culture in 2008, Liverpool has a metropolitan area which is the fifth largest in the United Kingdom. Based in the North West on the east shore of the Mersey Estuary and approximately 220 miles from London.
It became a major port city during the industrial revolution and was a popular departure point for Irish and English emigrants. Liverpool is well known for its culture and architecture and in particular its arts and music scene. Enjoying student life in Liverpool is easy with a wide range of places to explore. Home to Liverpool F.C. and Everton F.C. as well as sailing events and horse racing at the famous Aintree racecourse.
While-away an evening at the Cavern Club which is famous for hosting one of Liverpool’s most iconic exports - The Beatles. There is plenty to see here including the Liverpool Cathedral as well as a number of museums and galleries. On a sunny day you’ll also have access to nearby beaches including the wonderful Crosby and Formby Beach.

City Centre
The city centre is one of the cities most popular areas due to the fact that everything’s on your doorstep. It’s a great location for both Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool students. The centre offers a fantastic selection of restaurants, bars and food stores. Living in the city centre also means that all the famous landmarks and sights are within easy reach.
The Baltic Triangle
The Baltic Triangle is becoming Liverpool’s creative and cultural hub. Within walking distance of the city centre and offering a great range of restaurants, shops and bars. Living in the Baltic Triangle will ensure you’ve always got something to keep you entertained. The area is also home to some fantastic old warehouse buildings which have been transformed into glorious venue spaces.
Wavertree
There is a large student population in Wavertree which ensures there is a great student vibe on hand. The bars, shops and restaurants in the area all cater for students. There’s an ASDA and an Aldi here as well as a serious selection of takeaways. Slightly further away from the city centre and the universities, but easily accessible via a short bus ride.
Kensington
Kensington is convenient for accessing the universities as well as the city centre. All the amenities you could need are on your doorstep, and the city centre is just 20 minutes away. Rent is often cheaper here which means many students make it their home.
