Home to 598 students, Curzon House (formerly Liberty Point) is ideally situated in the heart of the city. Nottingham Trent University is just a 15-minute walk away, while the University of Nottingham is a 30-minute bus ride.
Choose Curzon House as your home and you’ll be able to pick from a range of en-suite rooms. These come with a bed, study desk and plenty of storage space. Better yet, you’ll also have your very own bathroom. Away from your flat, you’ll find some great common areas, where you can socialise over a game of pool, or relax in front of a film in the TV lounge.
Venture into the city centre and you’ll find lots to keep you entertained. As well as dozens of high street shops, restaurants and bars, Nottingham is home to several live music venues including Rock City, an iconic place that has seen some of the country’s best acts hone their skills. Feeling active? The Depot Climbing Centre is just across the road and is sure to give you a good workout.
Social Scene
Nottingham has an amazingly fun social side to it, and it’s one that you’ll get to know very well when you spend your time here as a student. Curzon House is right by the city centre, so you’ll be close to all of the fun and exciting things on offer.
If food is your forte, you’re in good company. Curzon House is on Curzon Street, which is surrounded by loads of different places to enjoy a meal influenced by cuisines from all over the world. World Cuisine Buffet is a true testimony to that fact, and you don’t have to cover quite the same distance –you can reach it in just ten minutes’ walk from Curzon House!
When you step into the city centre, you’ll also find all of the usual suspects when it comes to national chain restaurants. You’ve got Nando’s, Yo Sushi, Pizza Express and Wagamama, to name just a few!
Of course, you can’t go to University without sampling the nightlife from time to time (or all the time, depending). You’ll have plenty of options when it comes to places to go, to suit everyone’s tastes and budgets. Why not try Pryzm? You’d be silly not to – it’s only 9 minutes from your door to theirs! Pit & Pendulum is also a really good night out, whereas Baa Bar is a fab place to get the party started.
You’ve got some really cool options when it comes to live music as well, whether you want to see big names or local acts. Rock City is always a fun time, but The Rescue Rooms and Maze are also worth a look, too.
When it comes to having a jaunt around the city, you’ll find plenty of places to hang out, from cafés to a castle (yep, really). There’s a really awesome student vibe in Nottingham, so make sure you try out everything it has to offer.

There’s so much to do in Nottingham, and the great news is that it’s all practically on your doorstep!
Curzon House is close to plenty of Universities and Colleges, so no matter where you’re going, it’ll feel like a home away from home. You’re welcome to join us if you’re going to the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, Confetti Institute of Creative Technology, or Nottingham College (formerly Central College Nottingham and New College Nottingham).
Nottingham Trent University is only 11 minutes away from Curzon House by foot, whilst all of the others can be reached in less than a 20 minute walk – except for the University of Nottingham, which will take you just 27 minutes by bus.
Shopaholic? You’ll get your fix in Nottingham, no problem! You’ll love the Intu Broadmarsh Centre and the Intu Victoria Centre, but if you’re after something a little less mainstream, you could always try The Lace Marketinstead. You won’t ever have to fall behind in the style stakes whilst you’re living here!
Nottingham is home to many cultural points of interest, including its very own Castle, just 18 minutes away on foot! If you’re interested in the city’s rich history, then perhaps a visit to the City of Caves might be for you as well. Of course, there is the Nottingham Contemporary art gallery; which is absolutely free to enter, and it hosts plenty of fascinating modern exhibitions.
Looking for a night of live music? It’s a really popular hobby here, and as such, there are plenty of venues. Rock City is only a 14 minute walk away, or you could try The Maze, at only 16 minutes away. Both are good spots to catch your favourites or even scout for the next big thing! For the huge, international bands, Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is a must – just 10 minutes away on foot.
Some people prefer theatre, and Nottingham has plenty of drama! The Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hallis only 11 minutes away from you on foot, whilst the Nottingham Playhouse is only slightly further at 18. It’s a different kind of night out, and both show some incredible pieces of theatre across the spectrum for you to enjoy.
If you need some downtime in between lectures, Nottingham has plenty of green space and parks to enjoy. You should check out Arboretum Park – a 20 minute walk from the residence – perfect if you want to explore or simply sit and enjoy the sun. It’s only seconds away from your new home.
Film buffs can rejoice, because there are five cinemas locally. Your nearest is Cineworld in the Cornerhouse, which you’ll find 11 minutes away from Curzon House if you’re walking. It boasts 14 screens and is sure to be showing all of the latest releases for you to enjoy.
Staying Active
Getting fit has never been easier thanks to the multitude of different locations on your doorstep where you can work out. Curzon House is near a range of fitness facilities, the closest being Gym4All in the Glasshouse on Huntingdon Street. It’s only a 5 minute walk, so you can save your energy for your exercise. Alternatively, you could try The Gym, which is open 24 hours a day and only 9 minutes walk away.
Exercise doesn’t have to be run of the (tread)mill; in fact, sometimes it makes us want to jump for joy – literally. Planet Bounce Trampoline Park will bring out your inner child, and the best news is that it’s only a 5 minute walk away!
Football is a popular sport in Nottingham, with the locals supporting Nottingham Forest FC. You can catch a game at The City Ground, which is just over a half hour walk from your student accommodation.
If nature is more your thing, why not get out and about instead? Robin Hood isn’t associated with Nottingham for nothing, and you can even venture to his beloved Sherwood Forest. It’s a great place to walk around or cycle; and you could even take a picnic if the weather’s nice! You don’t need to go far – the wonderful woodland awaits you just 45 minutes away by car or taxi!
Travel and Transport
Curzon House is located rather centrally in Nottingham, so of course it’s accessible by public transport, car and even by foot.
Nottingham Train Station is located just an 18 minutes’ walk from the residence, and from there you can venture out to many different locations across the UK. For example, in just under two hours, you can find yourself in London, or if you feel like a trip to Manchester – it’s only about the same amount of time away, but in the opposite direction.
The bus system in the city is very reliable and easy to navigate; it will take you all around the city and to and from your University or College, and your front door, too! If you wanted to go even further afield, the Coach Station is served by National Express coaches; an easy 15 minute journey on foot from your new home.
If you live outside of the UK (or if you just fancy a holiday), the closest airport is East Midlands Airport; it’s roughly a 30 minute drive away or around an hour on the train.
Local Amenities
Need something from the shops? No worries! Curzon House in Nottingham is located close to loads of different amenities that you’ll need to make yourself at home.
Local supermarkets include Tesco Metro, so you can pick up your groceries (and maybe even experiment in your awesome new kitchen) and you only have to walk 8 minutes away. If you prefer to shop elsewhere, Sainsbury’s is just 13 minutes away, whilst a big Aldi can be reached in only 4 minutes – so you can save money without having to go far.
If you don’t fancy cooking, you won’t be left high and dry. The residence is located near to loads of different kinds of restaurants and takeaways, too. You’ll have the likes of Pizza Express and Jamie’s Italian to choose from, plus independents like Emilio’s – the choice is yours.
If you need practical things like a Post Office, a bank or even a Bureau de Change, you won’t have to venture too far. All the major banks can be found on the high street, whilst the Post Office closest to you is on Queen Street, a 10 minute walk away.
Obviously, your place of study will have a library, but Nottingham also has one of its very own! The Nottingham Central Library is just 14 minutes on foot from Curzon House. Perfect for those who want to explore other collections or have a change of scenery to do their work, without having to mission too far with your books!

Students at Curzon House can receive free and completely confidential advice from any of the universities in the Nottingham area. So, whether you’ve got money on your mind or a health concern, you’ll never be on your own – and if they can’t help you, they’ll point you in the direction of somebody who can!
Your nearest doctor is the Family Medical Centre on Carlton Road, which is less than 15 minutes on foot from the residence.
If you get into any emergencies or if you need a specialist, your closest hospital is Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust; about 10-15 minutes in the car from Curzon House. There’s an A&E there, too – we really hope you don’t need it, but it’s there if you do.
