Located in the East Midlands region of England, and home of the world famous Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest, Nottingham is home to two of the largest universities in the UK, the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. The city has a number of landmarks including Nottingham Castle, the City of Cave, Wollaton Hall, The Arboretum and the Old Market Square - so there’s plenty of culture to enjoy.
If it’s sport you’re into there is plenty at hand with the football teams Nottingham Forest and Notts County both based in Nottingham, as well as club cricket and ice hockey at the national ice centre to enjoy. The city also has a popular music scene as well as dozens of galleries and museums for you to spend many an afternoon in. Transport links are good, getting around the city itself is easy as well as regular transport to most cities in the UK and East Midlands Airport for flights.

Lenton
Lenton is an ever popular area for students in Nottingham. A thriving hub just 10 minutes from the University of Nottingham. Derby Road runs right through and gives easy access to the centre of town. With everything you could need from cinemas, bus routes, pubs, bars, cafes, supermarkets and takeaways, Lenton is perfect for student living.
Student properties can be a little more expensive in Lenton due to its popularity as a student area, but generally it’s affordable as student accommodation in Nottingham goes. Lenton is perfectly located for a quick trip home after a great night out.
Dunkirk
More on the quiet side when compared to Lenton, Dunkirk is still a popular choice with Nottingham students and is home to a large student population. Various amenities are on offer here such as a supermarket, a number of pubs and bars. Just 10 minutes away is the Megabowl and Showcase Cinema, with restaurants like Nando’s and Five Guys around the corner. It’s particularly popular with international students.
Beeston
Beeston is another popular area for students, situated just a bit west of Dunkirk and approximately 25 minutes from the University of Nottingham, Beeston could almost be considered a town of its own. Shopping options are great, pubs and restaurants are plentiful, and student accommodation tends to be cheaper. Transport links are good so despite it’s location it’s still a very popular option with a wide range of student housing available.
Arboretum
Arboretum is a great student area for Nottingham Trent University students due to the fact it’s located close to the city centre campus. With the Students’ Union a short walk away plus everything the city centre has to offer. You’ll also be within walking distance of both train and bus stations, so travel remains incredibly convenient. There are also a number of pubs and bars in the local area for you to enjoy.
City Centre
The city centre is another great choice for Nottingham students studying at either university. A fantastic range of restaurants, bars and shops are all just a few minutes away. Plus, transport links are fantastic and you will have easy access to all other areas of the city.
Sneinton
Slightly further from the city centre is Sneinton. The area attracts many students due to it’s cheaper rents and very reasonable travel times to the city centre. There are supermarkets around and you’ll enjoy the wide range of local shops on hand.
