Farmers Hall Lodge (Liberty House - Rosemount)

Being home to just 147 students, Farmers Hall Lodge has an intimate, community feel. Formerly known as Liberty House Rosemount, this student accommodation is found in a quiet location close to the city centre and just a 25-minute walk to the University of Aberdeen’s Foresterhill Campus - making it an ideal choice for medical students.

Want to live with flatmates? Choose from rooms with en-suite or shared bathrooms. You’ll also share a communal kitchen and living space. If you’d rather have your own space and independence our studios are the perfect choice.

Outside, you’ll find parking and a courtyard where you can relax in the warmer months. Otherwise, the hustle and bustle of the city centre is just a few minutes away. Here, you’ll find hundreds of pubs, restaurants and shops that allow you to escape from your studies for a few hours. With a cinema, live music venues and a theatre all nearby, there’s no shortage of evening entertainment on hand.

Meanwhile, the University of Aberdeen’s Sports Village is just a 10-minute bus ride away, with a huge variety of world-class facilities. Both the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University’s main campuses are also just a short trip by bus.

Farmers Hall Lodge is located within one of Aberdeen's most sought after residential areas, renowned for being both centrally located yet maintaining a strong community feel. Our student accommodation here benefits from direct transport links to both of the city’s University campuses; Robert Gordon University and the University of Aberdeen.

The residence is located less than a 10 minute walk from the city centre where you will find everything you need to enjoy yourself throughout your time at University. If you fancy a treat or aren’t in the mood to cook, the town centre has a variety of chain and independent restaurants suitable for all tastes. Cosmo’s World Buffet, Prezzo and Ask are just a few of the chains to choose from.

Several of Aberdeen’s pubs, clubs and bars can be found at either Union or Belmont Street – a 15 minute walk away, with most of the best student offers being on Mondays and Wednesdays. Triple Kirks, Revolution, Scream Bar and Tonik are a few of the fun places you can try out.

Nearly all of Aberdeen’s nightclubs can be found in the city centre and there are so many to take your pick from. To narrow it down, why not sample 42 Below (featuring Techno Electronica and House DJs), The Forum for dance and electro on Thursday nights, Exodus for theme nights throughout the week or Nox – the city’s freshest nightclub.

The location of Farmers Hall Lodge is perfect to take in the many top attractions that Aberdeen has to offer. Whether you like history, art, live music or the outdoors, there’s something to suit everyone.

The residence is well suited for students studying at Robert Gordon University; local bus services can get you to campus in around 15 minutes and there are student rates available too.

Aberdeen’s city centre offers a great shopping experience, and it's just a 10 minute walk from the residence. The famous Granite Mile on Union Street is home to loads of shops, bars and restaurants, and in fact, there are over 800 places to keep you entertained during your weekends and free periods.

If you like to relax between lectures, take a daytime stroll through Duthie Park, which is nestled alongside the River Dee. It’s a beautiful area to unwind after your daily studies.

Aberdeen has three cinemas around the city, showing all the latest blockbuster releases. If you get a chance to attend His Majesty’s Theatre (it’s less than a 10 minute walk away so there are no excuses!), you can see the opera, ballet or even a musical. Additionally, the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and The Music Hall host a range of musical events, both located in the city centre.

Aberdeen is bursting with fantastic Art and History exhibits. The City Art Gallery is situated a 10 minute walk from the residence and has a vast collection of fine art. The Maritime Museum, Provost Skene’s House and Satrosphere hands-on Science Museum are all museums worth visiting during your time in Aberdeen.

Sports enthusiasts are well catered for with a range of exciting activities across the city. Aberdeen has swimming pools, 11 golf courses, and the largest bowling alley in Scotland, so you can get in shape and have fun all at once.

If you like to keep fit, there is a variety of gyms within walking distance. There is a Pure Gym on Shiprow in the city centre – a 15 minutes’ walk or a 5 minute bus ride from the residence. The gym is open 24/7 and hosts a range of exercise classes and fitness equipment.

There are also sports facilities and equipment located at Robert Gordon University, which you can get to in 15 minutes by bus. Additionally, the University of Aberdeen’s Sports Village is under a 10 minute bus ride from our student accommodation at Farmers Hall Lodge and has a selection of world class sporting facilities for everyone to enjoy, including; a swimming pool, squash courts, fully equipped gym, sports hall, indoor athletics, a hockey pitch plus much more.

Golf lovers can even test their skills at the home of the open; St Andrew’s which you can reach in less than 2 hours!

Football fans can watch a game at Aberdeen FC, once managed by none other than Sir Alex Ferguson, which is only a 25 minute walk from the residence.

Farmers Hall Lodge benefits from great transport links which provide direct access to Robert Gordon University, the city centre and Aberdeen’s other University campuses. The city centre is within a 5-10 minutes’ walk from the residence so you will be never be far from things to see and do.

Local bus services around the city are reliable and reasonably priced; with student passes available so you can save your pennies. 

The number 62 goes from Garthdee, Robert Gordon University and Auchinyell with services running every 10 minutes, making getting to University stress-free and easy.

Aberdeen’s main train station is situated in the city centre, 15 minutes’ walk away. Fellow Scottish cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached in less than 3 hours, and there is a direct rail service link to London including a sleeper service because the journey takes around 8 hours and you might want some rest.

If you don’t fancy the 8 hour train to London, you can grab flight for around £50 and be there in just over an hour, thanks to the fact that Aberdeen has its very own airport. At just a 20 minute taxi ride away, Aberdeen Airportprovides a range of widespread routes across the UK, Europe and all around the world. 

Finally, services like Megabus provide coach trips around the UK at competitive prices with discounts available for students.

Farmers Hall Lodge is located close to a range of local amenities, meaning popping to the shops for your daily necessities won’t be a problem.

The city centre has a range of small supermarkets on your doorstep, including; Tesco Express, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. The city centre also has a Post Office, Bureau de Change, and pharmacies all within walking distance of your student accommodation.

All local high street banks can be found within the city centre, including; Santander, HSBC, Barclay’s, Natwest plus many more.

If you’re feeling lazy, visit the city centre for a large selection of your favourite takeaways. With Chinese, Indian, traditional English, kebabs, pizza, Mcdonald’s and Subway you won’t be short on choice.

Central Library is located 5 minutes walk from Farmers Hall Lodge, and has all the necessary resources needed to complete your course without distraction – perfect if you’re wanting some quiet study time.

You will be able to receive free advice regarding finances, careers and general welfare when studying at any of Aberdeen’s universities. Farmers Hall Lodge is located close to campus so you will never be too far from the help you may need. 

Rosemount Medical Group serves Farmers Hall Lodge for GP services and is only a 5 minute walk from our student accommodation. Additionally for prescriptions; Rosemount pharmacy is only 5 minutes’ walk away from the residence.

In case of an emergency, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is a 10 minute taxi ride away from our student accommodation, but you can of course call an ambulance if you need it. The hospital has an Accident and Emergency department, GUM Clinic and a general surgery, but we hope you'll stay fit as a fiddle!
