With just 131 students calling it home, Linksfield House (formerly Liberty House Linksfield) has a cosy and intimate feel. Both the University of Aberdeen and the city centre are less than a mile away, while the world-class facilities of Aberdeen Sports Village are right next door.
Whichever room you choose, you’ll find a bed, study desk and plenty of space. Want your own bathroom? En-suite rooms give extra privacy. Meanwhile, the spacious, fully-fitted kitchen and living area provide an ideal space to unwind with your flatmates after a busy day.
Outside, you’ll find plenty of parking, secure bike storage, a courtyard and a BBQ area, which you can take advantage of in warmer months. In fact, when the sun is shining, you may want to head to Aberdeen beach, just a 20-minute walk away.
Linksfield House is also well-situated to make the most of your time in Aberdeen. Castlegate is around 20 minutes away on foot (or 7 minutes by bus) - here you’ll find hundreds of shops, bars and restaurants, from your favourite chains to incredible independents. Closer to home, popular student pub The Bobbin is just around the corner, while a Tesco Express is ideally placed at the end of the road.
Social Scene
Linksfield House is set in a great location allowing you to get the most out of your time during University. As it’s simply a few minutes’ walk from The University of Aberdeen and plenty of local amenities, and only a 10 minute bus ride away from the busy city nightlife; you’ll never be too far away from the exciting social scenes Aberdeen has to offer.
Just minutes’ walk from the residence is the University of Aberdeen's student union, which is commonly referred to as the Students' Association. It hosts a range of themed evenings throughout the academic year, with live music and great drink offers.
King Street is a 2 minute walk from your student accommodation and has a selection of restaurants and takeaways if you don’t fancy cooking. There are many different cuisines to suit everyone’s tastes, including Manzil (a traditional Indian), Sam’s Chinese, the much-loved Pizza Hut, and even a delicious ice cream parlour, Casa di Gelato.
If you prefer well-known national chain restaurants, you can venture more into the city centre to find a range of cuisines, including Cosmo’s World Buffet, Nando’s, Prezzo, Ask and many more.
Union and Belmont Street is where you will find most of Aberdeen’s pubs, clubs and bars; a 10 minute bus ride away. Most of the best student nights happen on Monday’s and Wednesday nights. Some popular places here include Scream Bar, Triple Kirks, Revolution, Paramount and Tonik – the cheapest bar in town.
There is a large selection of nightclubs in Aberdeen to suit different music tastes. Some favourites include Tiger Tiger, 42 Below (featuring Techno Electronica and House DJs), The Forum (for dance and electro on Thursday nights), Exodus (for themed nights throughout the week) and Nox, the city’s newest glitzy nightclub.

Linksfield House is located just off the main road of King Street, and is located close to the beach, whilst also close to the city centre, and within walking distance or a 10 minute bus ride from the city’s University campuses.

If you like to relax between lectures, take a daytime stroll through the idyllic Duthie Park. Situated alongside the River Dee, it’s a beautiful area to unwind from the daily grind.
The city centre offers a great shopping experience, and the good news is that it’s just a 10 minute bus ride away. The famous Granite Mile on Union Street is home to in excess of 800 shops, bars and restaurants to keep you entertained during weekends and free periods, or just whenever you find yourself with some free time to spare.
Aberdeen is bursting with fantastic Art and History exhibits. The City Art Gallery is situated a 10 minute bus ride away and has a vast collection of fine art. The Maritime Museum, Provost Skene’s House and Satrosphere hands-on Science Museum are all museums worth visiting in Aberdeen.
If you like the cinema you’ll be spoilt for choice. Aberdeen has three cinemas around the city, featuring the latest blockbuster releases. If you get a chance to attend His Majesty’s Theatre, only 10 minutes by bus from the our student accommodation, you may be lucky enough to catch opera, ballet or a musical. Additionally the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre as well as The Music Hall are venues in the city centre which host a range of awesome musical events.
Staying Active
If you’re looking to keep fit, the University of Aberdeen Sports Village is just a minutes’ walk from Linksfield House. The Sports Village has a selection of world class sporting facilities for everyone to enjoy, including a swimming pool, squash courts, fully equipped gym, sports hall, indoor athletics, a hockey pitch plus much more, so you’ve got all the mod-cons.
Additionally, there are a number of gyms in the city centre, so there’s something to suit everyone.
Sports enthusiasts are well catered for with a range of exciting activities across the city. Aberdeen has swimming pools, 11 golf courses, and the largest bowling alley in Scotland, so there’s a ton of stuff to do on your own or even with your new flatmates.
Professional sport lovers will be pleased to know that Aberdeen’s Premier League football team, Aberdeen FC, is only a 10 minute walk from the residence.
Travel and Transport
Linksfield House is within easy walking distance of the University of Aberdeen and there are also transport links close by. Bus services around the city are trustworthy and reasonably priced; with student passes available for your benefit. Additionally, fast coach services provide trips around the UK at competitive prices with discounts available for students.
Aberdeen’s main train station is situated in the city centre – 10 minutes away by bus. Fellow Scottish cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached in less than 3 hours, and there is even a direct rail service link to London. The journey takes around 8 hours but you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a sleeper service available! If you don’t fancy it, you can grab a flight for the bargain bucket price of £50 and be there in just over an hour.
Aberdeen has its very own airport 15 minutes’ taxi ride away. Aberdeen Airport provides a range of widespread routes across the UK, Europe and internationally.
Local Amenities
Linksfield House is located near a range of local amenities, meaning popping to the shops for your everyday essentials can be done with ease.
Everything you need can be found on King Street, a couple of minutes walk from the residence. If you want to fill your cupboards; there is a Lidl – for those on a budget – and a Morrison’s, Tesco Express and a Spar shop just a few minutes’ walk away. Additionally, there is a Post Office, a range of takeaways, hairdressers, cash points, a bakery and pharmacies for your convenience.
The city centre is a 10 minute bus ride away where you will find a range of local supermarkets and high street banks, including HSBC, Natwest, Santander and more.
The nearest library to the residence is located at The University of Aberdeen – less than 10 minutes' walk from the residence. The library is huge, spreading across three floors and displaying all the resources you will need to help you during your studies.
Your Wellbeing
You will be able to receive free advice regarding finances, careers and general welfare when studying at any of Aberdeens' universities. Linksfield House is located close to campus so you will never be too far from the help you may need.
Old Aberdeen Medical Practice serves our student accommodation as a local GP and is less than a 10 minute walk from the residence. For prescriptions; Baird’s pharmacy is located less than a 5 minute walk away, or alternatively Morrison's supermarket also has a pharmacy located inside.
In case of an emergency, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is less than a 15 minute taxi ride away, but you can of course call for an ambulance if you need one. The hospital has an Accident and Emergency department, GUM Clinic and a general surgery, but we hope you'll stay fit and healthy throughout your time at University!
