Cross Court House (Liberty Hall)

Studying at City, University of London? Housing 240 students, Cross Court House (previously known as Liberty Hall) is just a seven-minute walk away from campus and has a range of en-suite rooms reserved exclusively for you.

If you opt for an en-suite room you’ll have your own bathroom, plus access to a fully-fitted kitchen and living area that you’ll share with your flatmates. If you don’t like the idea of living with a group of people, you can opt for a two-bed apartment, which you’ll share with just one other person. Still want more privacy? Our studios give you independence, with kitchen and bathroom facilities that are used only by you.

Away from your flat, you’ll also find comfortable common areas that are perfect for socialising over a game of pool or ping pong. Included in your rent, you’ll also have access to an off-site gym which is just a short walk away.

With both Angel station and Old Street station within a 10-minute walk, the rest of London, and all its entertainment, landmarks and huge range of restaurants, are well within reach. Closer to home, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to bars and eateries, with Shoreditch and Islington less than a mile away.

Cross Court House is located on Graham Street just around the corner from the neighbourhood of Islington, which is well-known for being extremely cultural and vibrant. The residence itself sits on a quiet, picturesque street opposite a park and Regent’s Canal. Nearby Clerkenwell is also renowned for a large selection of award winning restaurants and pubs, so you’ll never be short of places to go.

The famous Upper Street (which acts as Islington’s high street) is just a 10 minute walk away and has an impressive choice of entertainment, pubs and clubs. You’ve got Ladybird Bar, Slim Jims and The Narrow Boat.  Islington has a selection of eateries and bars; some of the best in London.  You can also at plenty of incredible establishments such as Comedor Grill & Bar or Le Sacre Coeur Bistro, both of which regularly have some great offers on food. Alongside the usual chains, Ottolenghi and The Gate are just a few of the other restaurants here that you ought to try.

Live music venue, the O2 Academy can also be found in Islington along with The Garage and Union Chapel, so you’ll never be bored if you love a good gig.  

Nearby is Shoreditch which has a range of local bars, takeaways, restaurants and edgy, independent clubs for you to choose from. 

Further afield is Leicester Square and Covent Garden – 40 minutes on foot, which are great areas for evening entertainment, although somewhat touristy. The hipster areas of Hoxton and Dalston are also close by and offer vibrant nightlife, bars and an array of art galleries and pop up shops. 

There are many pre-club pubs and bars which can be enjoyed in the area, including The Three Kings of Clerkenwell, Bleeding Heart Tavern and Zetter Town House.

Slightly further away is Camden Town, with its great reputation for alternative evening entertainment and music. It’s only a couple of stops away on the tube from Angel, or a super short 20 minute bus ride away on the 214.

With Cross Court House’s central location you will never be far away from the attractions and sights of central London.  Camden Town and Lock, Museum of London, Tower Bridge and London Zoo are just a few which are on your doorstep.

The Museum of London is a 20 minute walk away from the residence, showing visitors a look into London’s past, with some amazing artefacts to marvel at. Tower Bridge’s exhibition is a must see, and offers spectacular views over London. It’sjust 10 minutes away on the underground.    

The Barbican Centre is a performing arts centre and hosts classical and contemporary music concerts, theatre performances and art exhibitions and is just a 20 minute walk from the residence.

Exmouth Market in Farringdon is loaded with restaurants and bars and is very impressive inside; it’s definitely a must-visit with it only being minutes from the accommodation on foot.

Camden Town and Lock is a must visit, with hundreds of authentic food stalls, vintage clothes shops and jewellery. It’s oozing with modern culture, and it’s only 15 minutes away by tube. Regent’s Park is a tube ride away and offers a great open space for activities; it’s also where London Zoo is based.

Islington itself is a fascinating area, especially if you like to wine and dine. There are even two cinemas; including the extra-special Everyman ‘Screen on the Green’ which is loved due to its iconic vintage auditorium.

Cross Court House benefits from having shared access to Liberty House’s gym on St John’s Street, which is a 14 minute walk from the accommodation. 

10 minutes’ walk from the accommodation and you will find Finsbury Leisure Centre which has gym facilities, Finsbury Fencing Club, hockey and football pitches, and Finsbury Badminton Club. Ironmonger Row Baths are 10 minutes away on foot and offer a swimming pool and gym.

Arsenal Football Club and the Emirates Stadium are located just 15 minutes away by road, or 40 minutes away on foot.  The ground is popular for tourists and is well worth a visit on game day.

Cross Court House is in a prime location meaning you’re never too far away from travel connections. Less than 10 minutes’ walk from Cross Court House is Angel underground station and bus station, which provides access via the Northern line to Euston, King’s Cross St Pancras, Camden Town, Clapham and London Bridge.

Old Street overground and underground is also just over a 10 minute walk away; the overground station provides a link to Highbury, Moorgate and Islington and the rest of North London.

There are a number of bus routes which are easily accessed by walking from Cross Court House, these include:

Cross Court House has a large selection of shops, supermarkets, banks and more located a couple of minutes’ walk from the residence on the high street. Angel Central Shopping Centre is right opposite Angel tube station and has tons of shops as well as a cinema. There’s also Camden Passage right around the corner for antiques and vintage gear – well worth checking out for something a bit different.

Local supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Marks and Spencer and Waitrose are only a few minutes from Cross Court House. 

Upper Street also benefits from other amenities such as various banks such as HSBC, Santander and NatWest in addition to a Boots chemist, a dry cleaner, a local market, shoe repair and key cutting services.

There is a NHS walk-in centre where no appointment is needed located a 10 minute walk from the residence on Ritchie Street, or you can register at St Peter’s Street Medical Practice instead.

In case of an emergency the nearest hospitals to the accommodation are St Bartholomew’s Hospital just a 20 minute walk from Cross Court House and Moorfields Eye Hospital which is a 10 minute walk.  There is also Boots chemist located on the main high street (Upper Street).
