With both Old Street and Barbican stations less than a 15-minute walk, the rest of London is within each reach. And if you want to make a night of it, the excitement of Shoreditch is just one mile away.
Social Scene
Arbour House has a large range of pubs, bars and nightlife local to the residence. The popular area of Clerkenwell is well known for its award winning restaurants, and it’s home to some popular chains. Some restaurants around the Clerkenwell area include; Jamie’s Italian, Foxlow, The Crown Tavern and Sports Bar and Grill.
The area of Shoreditch is vibrant with lots going on, and is only a short distance from the residence. Here you will find everything you may need, including bars, nightclubs, pubs and restaurants. Further afield is Leicester Square and Covent Garden – 40minutes on foot, which are great areas for evening entertainment. The area of Hoxton is also close by and offers vibrant nightlife, bars and an array of art galleries.
Exmouth Market is a short walk from Arbour House and is home to an abundance of quirky shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafes.

The Barbican Centre is a performing arts centre and hosts classical and contemporary music concerts, theatre performances and art exhibitions and is just a 20 minute walk from the accommodation.
Parks which are close to the residence include Regent’s Park – with London Zoo, and Lincoln’s Inn Fields both short tube rides away. The Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe are a thirty minute walk away or just a short tube journey. London Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral are iconic features of London’s skyline and is only 20 minutes’ walk away from Arbour House.
Somerset House located south side of the strand is a short 10 minute bus ride away and plays host to many art exhibitions and is home to the world famous London Fashion Week.
Further afield via tube you will find The London Eye and Westminster, where there are an array of attractions.
Staying Active
There are a handful of gyms and leisure centres close to the residence, including Fitness First at Holborn Circus, Gym Box, Virgin Active Islington, Virgin Active Barbican, all of which are 20 minutes’ walk away.
Travel and Transport
Arbour House is close to all transport and travel links, so you will never be too from the attractions central London has to offer.
A 12 minute’ walk from the accommodation you will find Farringdon Station (as is Angel and Kings Cross), the station provides direct rail access to other stations including; Paddington, Kings Cross St Pancras, Liverpool Street and Aldgate. Kings Cross St Pancras offers users a quick trip to Europe via the Eurostar.
The underground of Farringdon provides links for the Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith and City lines. For Central lines visit Chancery Lane Underground station, a few minutes’ walk from the accommodation.
Bus services also run through the area and into central London, some useful routes include:

Local Amenities
Arbour House is close to a range of local amenities for your convenience. Supermarkets which are a 5 minute walk from the residence consist of Waitrose and Tesco, located in Clerkenwell.
The shopping area of Angel is the closest to Arbour House and has essentials such as clothes shops, high street banks, phone shops, and many restaurants. It is also has Angel Central shopping centre and Chapel Market. If you want a larger supermarket there is a Sainsbury’s just opposite Angel tube station.
Your Wellbeing
The area surrounding Arbour House is well served by local dentists and doctors, the team at Arbour House will be available to advise new students on these surgeries. Additionally, there is a Boots and Superdrug chemist a few minutes’ walk away in Clerkenwell.
St Bartholomew’s Hospital is close to Arbour House, and it’s less than a 10 minute walk away. It’s got an A&E area, which we hope you won’t need – but it’s there if you do.
