If you like to treat yourself or you aren’t in the mood to cook, West Orchards Shopping Centre is a 15 minute walk from Queen's Park House and has a wide range of restaurants to choose from, offering cuisines from all over the world.
If you enjoy foreign cuisine, there is an assortment of restaurants within a short walking distance from Queen's Park House; Aqua serves Lebanese food, Blue Orchid is a well-known Indian/Thai fusion restaurant, and Cosmo is a world food buffet restaurant serving hundreds of unique dishes.
Nightlife is among Coventry’s best features and some of the best student nightclubs include; Kasbah, Scholarsand JJ’s – all of which are within walking distance from our student accommodation with a different event on every night of the week.
The Hub is located on Coventry University’s campus; a 15 minute walk from Queen's Park House. It is a place to meet friends and have a meal or a coffee; there’s a food court and a coffee house of the Costa variety. Additionally, the Student Union and Square One offer entertainment nights during the week, including quiz nights and live music.
Some of the student pubs can be found along the walk into the city centre and in the centre itself, these include: The Oak, The Aardvark (home to Quids) and Phoenix. These pubs have special deals available every night of the week and attract students from Coventry University and The University of Warwick.

Entertainment lovers are well catered for as the centre is home to the Odeon, The University of Warwick’s theatre and the Showcase Cinema which is just located outside the city centre showing all of the latest blockbusters. Additionally, if you enjoy musicals and traditional theatre, The Belgrade Theatre has two stages showing pantomime and musicals all year long.
If you like to relax in between lectures, the War Memorial Park is a 20 minute walk from Queen's Park House. It’s perfect for catching up on the local history or having a kick-about with friends.
We recommend that you visit the Skydome in the city centre which has an Ice skating rink, a gym, various pubs and clubs, and a Harvester restaurant to keep you entertained.
Coventry has a traditional market in the city centre with a variety of stalls to explore. The West Orchards Shopping Centre has all the usual high street brand names, and there are two shopping parks; Central Six and Arena Retail Park – which are only a short bus ride away from the residence.
The city also has a vast amount of museums to explore; the Coventry Transport Museum has the biggest collection of British transport in the world. Plus there is the Herbert Museum and Art Gallery – both museums are around a 15 minute walk away.
Staying Active
If you like to keep fit there is a gym located at Coventry University, available to students at a very cheap rate and it’s just a 15 minute walk from Queen's Park House. Additionally, the city centre has a selection of gyms, including PureGym which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and it includes a range of exercise classes, too.
If you venture into the city centre you will find the Skydome, which is home to the Ice Hockey Team – Coventry Blaze. The team compete in the British Elite Ice Hockey League and have won several awards; the arena is 5 minutes from Queen's Park House and has an immense atmosphere on game days.
Also, Coventry Sports Centre is a 20 minute walk from the residence and offers a choice of exercise activities. The centre has three swimming pools, exercise classes, a fitness suite, badminton, squash and table tennis.
Travel and Transport
Located on Queens Road, Queen's Park House is only a 5 minute walk from the city centre where the city’s excellent transport links can be found.
Coventry train station is located a 10 minute walk from the residence. The UK’s capital, London, can be reached in 1 hour and 15 minutes and Birmingham is less than 30 minutes away.
The city’s bus system is super reliable with special rates available for students between the city centre and the University of Warwick. If you fancy stretching your legs there are also plenty of cycle lanes around city.
For those living outside the UK the nearest airport is Birmingham Airport, which is a 25 minute journey by taxi. The airport offers a mixture of widespread routes across the UK and internationally.

Queen's Park House is located close to a range of local amenities so popping to the shops to keep your cupboards full can be done with ease.
There is a Nisa convenience store a few minutes’ walk from the residence, plus the city centre has a range of small supermarkets which include: Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Mark’s and Spencer’s.
Central Six Retail Park is approximately a 5 minute walk from Queen's Park House and has stores including; American Golf, Boots, Brantano, Burger King, and TK Maxx.
If you like to eat out, Gosford Street is a 20 minute walk from the residence and has a range of takeaways including pizza, kebab houses, Chinese and Indian food – so you won’t be left hungry.
All major high street banks can be found in the city centre, including; Halifax, Nationwide, NatWest, Lloyds and more. Additionally, there is a Bureau de Change in the West Orchard Shopping Centre – which is a 15 minute walk away.
Coventry University and The University of Warwick both have libraries on campus which have all necessary resources you’ll need to complete your degree.
