St Peter House (formerly known as Liberty House St Peter) is home to just 150 students, giving it a real community feel. Living here puts you in the centre of the action, with the city centre and the University of Aberdeen both just a 10-minute walk away.

Our spacious bedrooms are available with or without their own bathroom and all include a bed, study desk and storage space. Step outside your room and you’ll also find a fully-equipped shared kitchen and communal space. Don’t like the idea of sharing with many people? Our three-bedroom flats are the perfect alternative.

When you need some fresh air, head outside to the external courtyard, which is a great place to study during the warmer months. Once you’ve put your textbooks away, fire up the communal BBQ and dine al fresco with your friends. If you’re bringing your own car, you’ll also be pleased to know that there is parking nearby.

The bustling streets of the city centre are a short walk away, giving you a huge choice of shops, bars and restaurants. Here, you’ll also find a cinema, music venues and theatres. Being just half a mile away, Morrisons is the obvious choice for your weekly shop, while the beach and Aberdeen Sports Village are within easy reach too.

St Peter House is set in a great location, meaning you will make the most out of your time in University. The residence is a short bus ride away from Robert Gordon University and the city centre, so you’ll never be far from the vast excitement of Aberdeen’s student life.

Just minutes’ walk from St Peter House is the University of Aberdeen Students' Association. It hosts a range of themed evenings throughout the academic year, with live music and drink offers – you’ll never be too far from the entertainment.

King Street is a 2 minute walk from the residence and has a selection of restaurants and takeaways to try if you don’t fancy cooking. There are many different cuisines to tickle everyone’s taste buds, including a traditional Italian, Sam’s Chinese, Pizza Hut, and even the yummy Casa di Gelato for a delicious ice cream, no matter whether it’s sunny or not (well, it is Scotland!).

Alternatively, you can venture further into the city centre by bus where you will find a larger range of well-known chain restaurants, including; Cosmo’s World Buffet, Ask, Prezzo and Nando’s plus many more.

Many of Aberdeen’s pubs, clubs and bars can be found at either Union or Belmont Street, and these are just 10 minute bus ride away. Most of the best student offers can be found on Mondays and Wednesdays. Revolution, Scream Bar, Triple Kirks, Paramount and Tonik (where you’ll go for the cheapest drinks) are just a few of the options available to you.  

Aberdeen’s most popular student nightclubs can be found in the city centre and there are so many to take your pick from. To whittle it down, you can sample 42 Below – featuring Techno Electronica and House DJs, The Forum for dance and electro on Thursday nights, Exodus – for themed nights throughout the week and Nox – the city’s newest hotspot.

You can reach the city centre in 10 minutes by bus and it offers a great shopping experience. The famous Granite Mile on Union Street is home to an impressive array of shops, bars and restaurants (about 800 of them) to keep you on your toes during weekends and free periods.

If you like to relax between lectures, take a daytime stroll through Duthie Park; it sits alongside the River Dee and is a beautiful area to unwind after your daily studies.

Aberdeen has three cinemas around the city, all featuring the latest blockbuster releases. If you get a chance to attend His Majesty’s Theatre, only a 10 minute bus ride away, you can spend the night at the opera, ballet or even a musical. Additionally, the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and The Music Hall are venues in the city centre which host a range of musical events.

Aberdeen is bursting with fantastic Art and History exhibits. The City Art Gallery is located a 10 minute bus ride from our student accommodation and has a vast collection of fine art on display. The Maritime Museum, Provost Skene’s House and Satrosphere hands-on Science Museum are all worth visiting in Aberdeen when you get some time.

Staying Active
There are sports facilities and gym equipment located at Robert Gordon University – which is a 15 minute bus ride away. Additionally, the University of Aberdeen Sports Village is under a 10 minute walk from St Peter House and has a selection of world class sporting facilities for everyone to enjoy, including; a swimming pool, squash courts, fully equipped gym, sports hall, indoor athletics, a hockey pitch and much more.

Sports enthusiasts are well catered for with a range of exciting activities across the city. In fact, Aberdeen has swimming pools, 11 golf courses, and the largest bowling alley in Scotland, so you can keep both your body and mind active.

Football fans can catch a game with Aberdeen’s Premier League football team, Aberdeen FC – their stadium is only a 10 minute walk from the residence.

Travel and Transport
St Peter House benefits from good transport links, making it easy to get around Aberdeen. The city centre and Robert Gordon University can both be reached within 15 minutes, so you will never be far away from the many social scenes Aberdeen has to offer.

Number 2 Auchinyell.  (Both buses go via the town centre and run every 10 minutes)

The main train station is located in the city centre, and you can reach it in just 10 minutes by bus. Fellow Scottish cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached in less than 3 hours, and they’re well worth checking out. There’s also a direct rail service to London, although be warned, it’s a long trip so the ride includes a sleeper service and the journey takes around 8 hours.

If you don’t fancy the 8 hour train to London, you can catch a plane for around £50 and be there in just over an hour, because Aberdeen has its very own airport. It’s just a 20 minute taxi ride away, and it provides a range of widespread routes across the UK, Europe and internationally. 

Additionally, a range of coach services provide trips around the UK at competitive prices with discounts available for students too.

Old Aberdeen Medical Practice is the GP which serves the residence and is under a 10 minute walk away. For prescriptions; Baird’s pharmacy is less than a 5 minute walk away, or alternatively, Morrison’s supermarket on King Street also has a pharmacy inside.

In case of an emergency, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is a 10 minute taxi journey, unless you need an ambulance. The hospital has an Accident and Emergency department, GUM Clinic and a general surgery, but we hope you don’t ever have any problems.
