Housing 272 students, Murano House (previously known as Liberty Village - Murano) provides the perfect platform to make the most of student life in Edinburgh.
All of the en-suite rooms at Murano House are reserved exclusively for students at the University of Edinburgh, giving you access to your own bathroom, a study desk and plenty of storage. On top of that, you’ll also be able to use a fully-fitted kitchen and living space that you’ll share with your flatmates. If you don’t like the idea of sharing though, our Classic and Premium studios allow you to have your own independence.
Leave your flat behind you for an hour or two and you’ll find comfortable common areas (including activities such as ping pong) and study spaces for when you want to relax or work with friends.
Being located halfway between the vibrant city centre and the trendy neighbourhood of Leith, you’ll never be short of bars, restaurants and entertainment. Need some quiet time or want to soak up the sunshine? Less than 30 minutes on foot will take you to some of the city’s best beauty spots, including the iconic Calton Hill, the sprawling Holyrood Park and the towering Arthur’s Seat.
Social Scene
Murano House is just a 2 minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and it takes roughly 18 minutes on the bus from the main street in the city centre – Princes Street. If you fancy a leisurely stroll you can reach it within 25 minutes. The building is near plenty of pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops – so you’ll always find somewhere to go and something to do.
Leith Walk has plenty of bars and restaurants – make sure you visit Brass Monkey for great drinks and music, and La Favourita for fantastic pizza.
If you don’t feel like going outside, that’s no problem at all the building has a common room with a ping pong table to use with your flatmates on those rainy days.
What's Around
Murano House is located on Amphion Lane. Princes Street is the main street for shopping in Edinburgh and offers all the major high street brands and shops you’d expect. Visit Cockburn Street if you’re looking for vintage and independent shops with those more selective pieces for your wardrobe.
For shopping in Leith, Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre is approximately 15 minutes on the bus from Murano House, and offers plenty of high street shops and restaurants – including a Pizza Express. Also, don’t forget to visit Vue cinema for all the latest releases too!
Ocean Terminal also has a Pure Gym which is open 24 hours, and has lots of different classes to choose from – so there are no excuses to get fit if you want to.
Travel and Transport
Edinburgh is very easy to travel around, to and from! There are plenty of bus routes, and two train stations with routes to cities all over the UK. Edinburgh Airport is easily accessible by bus or by tram, with lots of flights to various cities in Europe for those who want to travel that bit further afield.
The bus service in Edinburgh runs from 4am to just after midnight, with a night service available until the following day. With so many routes and buses arriving every 10 minutes, you’ll always be able to jump on a bus somewhere in Edinburgh! Make sure you get yourself a student ridacard which entitles you to student travel discounts galore – just make sure you carry plenty of loose change around with you!
Murano House is just a 2 minute walk to the nearest bus stop which will get you into the city and to University. Useful bus services near Murano House are 22, 7, 14 and 49.
You can also grab the Megabus from Edinburgh bus station, for a cheap weekend trip to Glasgow or anywhere else in the UK that takes your fancy!
