Ty Pont Haearn (Liberty Bridge)

With 643 students calling it home, Ty Pont Haearn (previously Liberty Bridge) has a fantastic community feel to it. Sitting next to the city centre and less than a mile to Cardiff University and the University of South Wales, it’s ideally located for all students coming to the city.

Students living here can choose from a range of en-suite or studio rooms, meaning you’ll be able to enjoy the privacy of your own bathroom. Opting for a studio will give you the most independence, as rooms come with their own kitchen and living space. If you live in an en-suite room, you’ll be sharing a fully-fitted kitchen and living area with flatmates.

Outside of your flat, you’ll find a fantastic communal area to share with your neighbours, with comfortable study areas, an air hockey table, and a Playstation zone. It’s a great place to socialise and relax.

Step out of Ty Pont Haearn and you’ll discover Cardiff’s vibrant city centre on your doorstep. Explore the streets and you’ll be spoilt for choice on shops, bars and restaurants. At night, you’ll find several nightclubs and live music venues waiting to keep you entertained.

Located within the heart of Cardiff’s university district, you really will be spoiled for choice with a wide variety of local amenities, bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants when you stay at Ty Pont Haearn.

Mill Lane is a 5 minute walk away  from the residence and offers cocktail bars such as Kapu, Peppermint Bar and Mocka. All of the bars have great special offers and they have outside seating areas which are great to relax in during the summer months. Additionally, Mill Lane has a wide range of restaurants to suit different tastes, including Las Iguanas, Bill’s, Ask, and Wagamama. Magic Wrap and New York Deli are local takeaways and are popular among students; they can be found just a few minutes’ walk from Ty Pont Haearn.

A few minutes from the residence are some of Cardiff’s well known nightclubs and bars, including: Walkabout, Ladybird, Maddison and Brewhouse.

Additionally, Greyfriars Road is full of some of the best nightclubs in Cardiff, including: Glam, Tiger Tiger, and Pryzm. These are all within a 10 minute walk from Ty Pont Haearn and are open nearly every night of the week.

Alternatively, Cardiff Student Union is a few minutes’ walk from the residence and offers a range of nights to suit everyone’s taste and budget. One night held each month is Treatment, Cardiff’s answer to The Warehouse Project where a range of famous and local DJ’s have performed. Acts which have visited include Disclosure, Annie Mac, Second City, Gorgon City, Eats Everything plus literally hundreds more. You’ll never get bored in Cardiff!

Ty Pont Haearn is located on Pellet Street, right in the centre of Cardiff, and is less than a 5 minute walk from the Cardiff campus at the University of South Wales. The residence is close to a wide range of things to see and do around the city so you’ll  never be short of choice.

There is plenty of history to see in Cardiff too, close to the residence is Cardiff Castle and Bute Park; the perfect location to relax and have a picnic in the summer months whilst taking in the sights of Cardiff Castleitself. National Museum Cardiff is also close by, displaying some of the finest art collections from over 500 years ago and the natural history of Wales.

A 5 minute walk from Ty Pont Haearn is a Cineworld and St David’s which is an indoor shopping mall and home to over 120 brand name shops – perfect for some retail therapy.

Cardiff Bay is a 5 minute train journey from Cardiff Queen Street Station where there are plenty of things to see and do. Cardiff Bay offers boat trips to and from the city centre, where you can see the Wales Millennium Centre. Plus, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy.

The Motorpoint Arena is just a few seconds away from Ty Pont Haearn; the venue hosts many famous comedians and music artists, and is open most days of the week.

If you want to go to the theatre instead, you can head to the New Theatre where you might even see some celebrity faces. For the latest cinema releases, you’re best heading to either the Odeon or Cineworld, both of which are within a 10 minute walk or bus ride away.

Sports fanatics will have a variety of gyms to choose from when staying at Ty Pont Haearn. There are various options within a couple of minutes’ walk from the residence, including Vitality Gym on Park Place, easyGym on Queen Street and Pure Gym on Millennium Plaza. All of the gyms offer competitive student rates and have fully fitted gyms with the latest fitness equipment.

If you like running, Park Run is a 5k fun run which takes place every Saturday morning at 9am, starting at The Taff Trail next to Tesco on Western Avenue. It’s a bit of a trek and you’ll have to go by car but you’ll make up for it in the miles you’ll run!

Ty Pont Haearn is close to the Principality Stadium, home to the Welsh Rugby team. Our student accommodation is also near Cardiff Arm’s Park – the Cardiff Blues Rugby team. If you get a chance to see a game at either of these stadiums you won’t be disappointed  –  the atmosphere is electric on match days.

If you are feeling adventurous why not visit Cardiff Bay’s international sports village, which offers an indoor Olympic pool, white water rafting and an ice rink.

Football fans won’t feel left out either. Cardiff City FC, affectionately known locally as the Cardiff Bluebirds, play at the Cardiff City Stadium and it’s very close to your student accommodation at Ty Pont Haearn. In fact, you can walk it in just over half an hour or alternatively travel by car in less than ten minutes.

Ty Pont Haearn is based in the city centre and is within walking distance to Cardiff’s train and bus stations, so you will never be far from the excellent transport links on offer.

Bus services run frequently and will take you anywhere you need to get to in Cardiff. Cardiff Central train station has regular trains to and from Cardiff Bay and Cathays areas, and run late into the evening.

Additionally, Cardiff is on the Megabus route and stops near Ty Pont Haearn, so if you fancy visiting a friend or popping home for the weekend, you can do so and all for a reasonable fare.

Cardiff Airport is located just outside the city centre and can be easily reached by bus or train, if you’re travelling further afield.

Ty Pont Haearn benefits from a great location and offers a large range of local amenities and essentials right on your doorstep. There are small supermarkets such as Tesco Metro, Sainsbury’s Local and Waitrose just a short walk from the residence, located in the city centre.

If you are looking for more options, a Morrison’s, Asda and Tesco Extra can be found in Cardiff Bay, which is only a 5 minute taxi or bus ride from Ty Pont Haearn.

The residence is local to an array of restaurants such as Nando’s, Pizza Express, Bill’s, Cosy Club and TGI Friday’s, plus many more.

The city centre is also home to hundreds of high street shops and St David’s which is an indoor shopping mall. You can shop until you drop in around 120 big brand stores, or just pop in for a quick browse. Here you will also find a good selection of high street banks and bureau de change services, and more can be found on Queen Street and St Mary’s Street.

Cardiff’s many universities offer free career, medical and financial advice or anything else that you may need help with.

Cardiff Royal Infirmary is located 5 minutes from Ty Pont Haearn and offers sexual health advice, and a walk-in clinic GUM clinic service.

In case of an emergency, the main hospital in Cardiff is the University Hospital of Wales which is a 15 minute bus ride from the residence. There is also a local Boots pharmacy just a few minutes’ walk from the accommodation.
