About Bath
Bath is in the West of England in the county of Somerset. Not far from the city of Bristol and nestled in the River Avon valley, Bath is a popular tourist spot and has been since the days of the Romans when the famous Roman baths were built there. Millions of tourists visit the city every year to wander through its picturesque streets.
It is known for its incredible architecture and beautiful landscapes such as the Royal Crescent, the Botanical Garden, the Circus and the Assembly Rooms. Bath is also popular with students and is home to both the University of Bath and the Bath Spa University.
Bath offers a whole host of historical and cultural delights and you’ll have no problem whiling away an afternoon here. There are a number of fantastic museums and galleries as well as beautiful green spaces to enjoy in the city. For those looking for some fresh air, Bath is surrounded by wonderful countryside and if you want to enjoy the amenities of a larger city, Bristol is just a quick train ride away.
Due to its large student population finding student accommodation in Bath can be tricky. Student properties do book fast and those looking for a student house located close to local amenities can find that competition is high. Popular Student Areas of Bath
Bath City Centre
Right in the heart of the action, the city centre offers you everything you could need. Easy access to all the amenities Bath has to offer as well as the famous tourist spots to make entertaining friends and family a breeze. You’re also in a fantastic location for fast travel to London and Bristol.
Widcombe
Widcombe is southeast of the city centre and may look quite remote, but it actually sits nicely between the city and the University of Bath campus. There are regular bus services to campus and the town centre and some lovely views of the city.
Combe Down
Technically a village just to the south of Bath, Combe down is still very accessible and even walkable from the city centre. The University of Bath is close enough, there are a handful of useful amenities and you are literally minutes from the fantastic Somerset countryside.
Oldfield Park
Oldfield Park has a number of residential roads offering a range of student housing as well as the amenities of Moorland Road. It’s also only a few miles from the campus of the University of Bath and the Oldfield Park train station gives easy access to Bath Spa station and Bristol.
Twerton
Just further west of Oldfield Park is the area of Twerton. Situated right by the river and is an area that has seen a fair bit of regeneration over recent years. A popular area for private student halls with a number of shops in the area and easy access to the city centre. Twerton is also the home of the city’s football team, Bath City Football Club.
Bathwick
Just across the river from the city centre Bathwick offers great access to the city with great amenities and is home to the quaint Henrietta Park and Sydney gardens as well as the Bath Canal.
Odd Down
Despite being much further south of the city centre the area is actually well served with a number of supermarkets and shops at hand. It is also the home of the Odd Down Sports Ground where the Bath Lacrosse team plays, among others.
